May 21, 7:30pm, Ristretto Roasters Williams, 3808 N. Williams. Coffee, tea, and treats will be available. Wine graciously provided by R. Stuart.

Bookslut describes Noy Holland’s most recent story collection Swim for the Little One First (FC2) as “a showcase for the technical possibilities of language.” Holland’s previous collections include What Begins with Bird (FC2) and The Spectacle of the Body (Knopf).
Leni Zumas is the author of the novel The Listeners (Tin House), which was a finalist for the 2013 Oregon Book Award, as well as the story collection Farewell Navigator (Open City). Zumas has been the recipient of numerous writing fellowships, and currently teaches in the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Portland State University.

Sara Jaffe’s short fiction has appeared in journals including NOON, Paul Revere’s Horse, matchbook, and Publication Studio’s Weekday. She is also a co-founding editor of New Herring Press, a purveyor of prose chapbooks.

Please join us on Friday, April 26, at 7:30pm, when the Ristretto Reading Series welcomes New York author Charles Dubow, reading from his 2013 bestselling novel, Indiscretion.

Called “smart, sensuous, and moving” (Oprah.com) and “a totally addictive read” (Booklist), Indiscretion draws perhaps inescapable comparisons to The Great Gatsby, with its setting on a Hamptons estate, its beautiful and rich protagonists, its outsider-as-narrator.

It is as well about fidelity, what we will do to protect it, how a selfish error can destroy it. As author Kate Christensen wrote, “Indiscretion richly delves into the complex permutations of love. Charles Dubow writes with nuanced precision, and his characters are captivatingly real. This is a fine, supple, riveting first novel.”

Dubow will read from and answer questions about his debut novel. Books will be available for signing and for sale, courtesy of Powell’s Books.

This event is free and open to everyone, as are all Ristretto Reading Series events. See our Facebook page or more info at www.ristrettoroasters.com.
